The Adventure ... starts rather slowly
It only took 2 and a half weeks to clean and organize the garage in preparation for the building of the boat. The "boat" is actually a 16.5 foot kayak-canoe hybrid kit from Chesapeake Light Craft. We (the dyslexic left-handed carpenter, Mike, and his 9.5 fingered accomplice wife, the Nubbed One) hope to document our efforts on this blogspot for the edification and amusement of others.
On the first day that we finally got up the nerve to unpackage our kit , we laid out the parts, and began by putting together the bilge panels. No, that's a lie. We began by skipping the bilge panels and going to the shear panels first. We each interpretted the instructions differently and had to try several arrangement before deciding that the intention of the instructions was to stack the two bilge panels atop one another. Then stack the two shear panels atop one another in a separate stack. This was NOT evident to either of us because we are language challenged, too analytical, or just scared to death.
After 4 hours we managed to clamp and epoxy the bilge panels. Exhausted, we left the boat shop to let the epoxy cure for 24 hours.
